About The Position

This internship position is for the Summer session (May - August) and involves working with volunteers, full-time, and seasonal staff in all aspects of the operations and maintenance of Hartford Beach State Park. The intern will gain experience in various park management duties.

Requirements

• Must be a current part-time or full-time student (minimum of 6 credit hours) in the upcoming semester or in the immediately preceding semester.
• Must be pursuing a degree in Park Management, Natural Resource Management, Natural Resources Law Enforcement, Ecology, Environmental Science, Wildlife and Fisheries, Forestry, Conservation Biology, or another closely related field.
• Must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time of application.
• By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program.

Responsibilities

• Assist with all aspects of park operations and maintenance.
• Learn and utilize the Point of Sale system.
• Troubleshoot problems for other employees.
• Provide customer service.
• Perform basic building and grounds maintenance.
• Develop organizational and leadership skills.
• Assist in developing park programs.
• Organize and manage park projects.
• Educate visitors on park rules and enforce them as needed.
