The Park Maintenance Worker provides a safe, operational, and hospitable park facility using building maintenance and grounds-keeping skills individually or as a team. Duties include using multiple skilled areas in facility maintenance, turf management, sports-field management, operation of specialized equipment, park rule enforcement, and visitor interaction in a flexible work schedule that includes weekends and holidays and possibly evenings. Mows and line trims common areas. Mows and maintains sports fields. Inspects areas and equipment to ensure operational and rectifies or refers problems to supervisor. Cleans and maintains all trails, including weed control and leveling to prevent safety hazards. Inspects trails to ensure operational. Provides visitors and other customers with accurate information regarding parks and park rules. Performs minor painting, carpentry, plumbing, irrigation and fence repair or other repair. Detects, reports and assists in correcting safety hazards in the parks. Cleans, restocks and maintains restrooms, shelters, and maintenance buildings. This classification is distinguished by performing basic custodial, maintenance and groundskeeping functions within assigned park areas. This classification may require a flexible work schedule in order to meet the needs of the department.
