Park Maintenance Worker (Airport Maintenance Worker)

As an Airport Maintenance Worker, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and overall appearance of the airport grounds, and ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all. Your primary focus will be on maintaining the landscaping, grounds, and outdoor areas of the airport. Winter duties will include supervising up to 10 seasonal employees, and leading now removal activities according to the Waukesha County Airport Snow and Ice Control Plan. Requirements
- High school graduation or GED equivalent
- Possess mechanical aptitude
- Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience in park maintenance work is desirable
- Work experience in airport and/or other facility's grounds maintenance, and the operation of a variety of related trucks and equipment, is highly desirable
- Possession of a Class A or B Commercial Driver's License is highly desirable
- The following work assignments will require the possession of a valid Class ‘A’ Commercial Driver's License from the State of Wisconsin within twelve (12) months of date of hire.
Responsibilities
- Perform moderate to heavy manual labor for extended periods under variable weather conditions
- Operate a variety of trucks and equipment necessary for the maintenance and repair of airport grounds and facilities
- Establish and maintain effective working and public relations with coworkers, airport users, service providers, the public, vendors, and outside agencies
- Perform manual labor in the maintenance of designated Airport facility buildings, grounds, and equipment
- Perform vegetation maintenance work which may include but not be limited to, brush cutting, mowing, tree trimming, and minor landscaping
- Operate equipment for snow removal and de-icing operations
- Inspect, maintain, and operate daily assigned equipment such as mowing, tree removal, painting, and vehicles to ensure continued safe and efficient operation
- Perform preventive maintenance on equipment, facilities, and grounds
- Assist Airport Manager/designee in prioritizing, directing, and supervising seasonal staff
- Instruct employees in proper Airport maintenance activities and safety practices and procedures
- Respond to emergency situations such as snowstorms, windstorms, flooding, accidents, fires
- Keep records and make reports
- Assist with airport special events
- Perform daily airfield inspections, remove debris, mitigate wildlife hazards, and control and/or remove obstructions
- Inspect air and landside pavements, report any defects and/or failures to pavement, fencing, signage, buildings ,etc.
- Perform office support duties including, but not limited to, data entry, responding to customer inquiries, and project coordination
- Perform other duties as required
