About The Position

The San Bernardino County Special Districts is seeking a Park Maintenance Worker I for the Bloomington Recreation and Park District. This role performs routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections of park grounds, facilities, athletic fields, and recreational amenities. Duties include maintaining electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and irrigation systems; performing concrete and asphalt work, roofing, painting, carpentry, and welding; and assisting with construction, remodeling, landscaping, and shrubbery care. Specific responsibilities include assisting with the operation and maintenance of the District’s splash pad and related aquatic systems, such as cleaning, monitoring water quality, performing basic water testing, maintaining chemical levels, inspecting pumps and filters, and keeping operational logs. Additionally, the role involves preparing and maintaining natural grass, clay, and artificial turf fields for various events, including dragging and leveling clay infields, chalking and striping fields, setting up athletic equipment, mowing, and performing basic turf and irrigation repairs. Artificial turf maintenance includes brushing, grooming, debris removal, checking infill levels, and assisting with minor repairs. Park Maintenance Workers may also assist with field conversions and event setup. This position helps maintain clean, safe, and welcoming parks and recreational facilities for the community.

Requirements

  • Must be available to work in Bloomington.
  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must possess a valid California Class C driver license.
  • Must possess six (6) months of experience performing building or grounds maintenance.
  • Must be able to perform heavy manual labor.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in extreme cold and in other varying weather conditions.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must have the ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend over, and crawl for extended periods.
  • Must be able to present legal right to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections of park grounds, facilities, athletic fields, and recreational amenities.

  • Mows and maintains natural grass, and performs basic turf and irrigation repairs.
  • Performs artificial turf maintenance, including brushing and grooming surfaces, removing debris, checking infill levels, inspecting for damage, and assisting with minor repairs.
  • Assists with field conversions and event setup.
