The Fairfax County Park Authority (FCPA) is seeking a Park Maintenance Manager (Sr. Maintenance Supervisor) to be a part of one of the most highly regarded park systems in the country. With more than 25,000 acres of parkland, nine Recenters, eight golf courses, three lakefront parks, and more, FCPA is an exciting organization to be a part of and there are many opportunities for staff to make a difference at every level. Reports to Area 3, 6901 South Kings Highway, Alexandria, VA and is sent to various park sites daily. Manages staff and contractors maintaining Area 3 parks and playgrounds. Schedules and monitors the performance of mowing crews and other contractors. Inspects all Area 3 park, playgrounds, recreation areas and trails on a scheduled rotational basis. Develops and implements site-specific maintenance programs in accordance with FCPA standards. Conducts training and ensures compliance of paid and volunteer staff in accordance with applicable safety standards. Acts as the area manager or athletic field manager during absence of the incumbents. Serves as a point of contact for senior managers and citizens in regard to all Area Park maintenance and mowing requirements. Operates a county vehicle as part of official duties. Participates on various committees and teams to develop and further the objectives of the FCPA equipment. Completes required documentation and daily work reports. Frequently interacts with citizens. Normal working hours are 6:30 am to 3:00 pm, Monday - Friday, however, occasional weekend, evening and holiday hours may be required. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the position. Positions are subject to transfer to other maintenance operation locations. This position is designated as Emergency Services Personnel for the Park Authority.
