About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Park Manager, the Maintenance Foreman supervises and performs skilled and semi-skilled maintenance, repair, and groundskeeping work at County parks and facilities. This position serves as a working supervisor, responsible for daily task assignments, staff oversight, and quality control while implementing maintenance priorities, standards, and schedules established by the Park Manager and Parks & Recreation leadership.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in parks maintenance, facilities maintenance, construction trades, or grounds management, including supervisory and/or lead work experience.
  • Ability to supervise and train maintenance staff.
  • Knowledge of safety practices and equipment operation.
  • Ability to read work orders, plans, and maintenance schedules.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently while following established priorities and direction.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, turf management, small engine work, and masonry.
  • Commercial Driver's License.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises assigned staff ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to established standards.
  • Assumes lead role during assigned projects provided by the Park Manager.
  • Performs and oversees routine maintenance and repair of park facilities, buildings, fields, courts, playgrounds, trails, and related infrastructure.
  • Conducts regular inspections of park assets to identify maintenance needs, safety concerns, and repair requirements.
  • Reports maintenance issues, resource needs, and recommended corrective actions to the Park Manager.
  • Assists with the implementation of capital improvement projects and major repairs coordinated by the Park Manager.
  • Ensures compliance with all safety policies, operational procedures, and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Operates, maintains, and oversees the proper use of tools, vehicles, and grounds maintenance equipment.
  • Maintains records of work performed, inspections, equipment usage, and materials; submits reports as required.
  • Coordinates with vendors, contractors, and other County departments at the direction of the Park Manager.
  • Assists with inventory tracking of tools, equipment, and supplies; recommends purchases and replacements.
  • Provides on-the-job training and technical guidance to maintenance staff.
  • Responds to after-hours maintenance issues, emergencies, weather events, and special assignments as directed.
  • Supports park operations during special events or peak usage periods as assigned.
  • Performs related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
  • Provides day-to-day supervision of assigned personnel.
  • Monitors work quality and productivity; provides feedback and coaching.
  • Advises the Park Manager as requested in regard to performance evaluations, training needs, and disciplinary recommendations.
