About The Position

Performs duties at the Ice Arena in monitoring compressors and the temperature of the ice, operates the Zamboni, and performs cleaning and custodial duties. This role involves the basic operation of various equipment including dump trucks, tractors, loaders, Bobcats, field equipment, chippers, stump grinders, welders, and hand tools such as chain saws, weed trimmers, mowers, and bench grinders. The position also assists in the physical labor tasks of maintaining and repairing buildings and grounds, cutting lawns, trimming, and edging. Responsibilities include assisting with snow removal, cleaning grounds, removing litter, and supporting the pesticide program while handling hazardous materials according to regulations. Additionally, the role involves installing and maintaining irrigation equipment and performing basic checks and minor repairs on operated equipment.

Requirements

Graduation from High School or GED Certificate.
Must possess a valid South Dakota CDL Class B within one year of hire.
All Maintenance must possess a valid (G,4,7,9) Pesticide Applicator’s License and maintain such license during employment.

Nice To Haves

One (1) year of demonstrated work experience in grounds maintenance preferred.

Responsibilities

Monitors compressors and ice temperature at the Ice Arena.

Performs cleaning and custodial duties.

Assists in physical labor tasks for maintenance or repairs of buildings and grounds.
Cuts lawns, trims, and edges around walks, fences, gates, walls, and walks.
Assists in snow removal operations.
Cleans grounds and removes litter.
Assists with the pesticide program and handles hazardous materials according to regulations.
Installs and maintains irrigation equipment.
Checks tires, oil, lubricant, water, air filters, lights, and fuel on equipment.
Performs minor repairs to operated equipment.
Performs landscaping tasks such as shoveling, loading and hauling soil, fencing, painting, pruning shrubs and trees, spraying lawns, shrubs, and trees, raking and bagging or burning leaves, planting or removing trees, and maintaining athletic fields.
