About The Position

Best Point Education & Behavioral Health is looking for a Parent Peer Support Specialist who can use their own lived experience as a caregiver to help other families navigate behavioral health and mental health systems. In this role, you’ll walk alongside parents and caregivers as someone who understands the challenges of caring for a child with behavioral health needs. You’ll provide encouragement, advocacy, connections to community resources, and one-on-one support while helping families identify goals and build confidence navigating systems of care.

Requirements

  • Lived experience as a caregiver for a child with behavioral health challenges and/or a mental health diagnosis
  • High school diploma
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and engagement skills
  • Ability to travel to work locations and throughout the community
  • Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and reliable auto insurance

Responsibilities

  • Use your lived experience as a caregiver to build trust and provide peer support to families
  • Serve as a liaison and advocate for caregivers, helping connect them with appropriate services and resources
  • Provide one-on-one consultation to help caregivers identify goals and navigate systems of care
  • Partner with the Mobile Response and Stabilization Services (MRSS) team to engage caregivers in recommended services
  • Help families identify, access, and strengthen natural supports and community resources
  • Build positive working relationships with service providers, schools, community organizations, and other family supports
  • Support families in navigating available behavioral health and community-based services
  • Complete required documentation accurately and within established timeframes
  • Meet agency productivity expectations
  • Actively participate as a collaborative and positive member of the MRSS/Crisis Department
  • Maintain proficiency in the electronic health record system
  • Respond with flexibility and initiative as family and program needs evolve
  • Follow Best Point policies, procedures, and professional standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned
