About The Position

The Parent Partner serves as a parent/caregiver advocate for individuals and families enrolled in the DMH Wraparound Program. The program coordinates care and interventions for high-risk children and youth being reunited with their families, with the goal of helping families attain self-sufficiency. The role reports to the Program Supervisor for administrative activities and to the Clinical Supervisor for clinical issues. The caseload is typically up to ten clients, with the potential to increase to fifteen at the program’s discretion. Hours vary based on family availability; the position requires 24-hour on-call coverage and availability seven days per week. Requirements

The individual must have a child or close relative in the child welfare or juvenile justice system with an emotional disability.
Personal life experience with DMH, Probation, or DCFS.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist Certification (PSCC).

Responsibilities

Advocate for parents and caregivers, represent their best interests, and participate as an active member of the Child and Family Team.
Guide parents and caregivers through the child welfare and/or juvenile justice system.
Coordinate with the Facilitator to ensure access to community services.
Attend all required Wraparound Program meetings.
Ensure continuous input and feedback from families and service providers.
Communicate and cooperate with other staff regarding client behavior, progress, and activities.
Conduct oneself professionally in dress, language, attitude, and behavior.
Understand and support the philosophy and objectives of the program and agency.
Follow professional ethics policies, including appropriate boundaries and patient confidentiality.
Document services provided in the electronic health record.
Participate in medical record reviews.
Maintain knowledge of current legal standards concerning professional practice, reporting requirements such as suspected abuse and Tarasoff, professional boundaries, and related issues.
Assist in conducting staff performance evaluations as required.
Perform additional functions as requested by the Program Supervisor, Clinical Supervisor, Program Director of Youth Services, or Administration.
