Parent Mentor-First 1000 Days (Clover NOLA)
About The Position
The Louisiana Children’s Museum’s First 1000 Days Program supports parents and caregivers during the critical period from pregnancy through a child’s first three years. This program aims to foster healthy development by providing meaningful connections, resources, and guidance tailored to children’s developmental milestones. As part of a one-year pilot partnership with Clover, the Parent Mentor will support participating families through consistent engagement, relationship-building, and developmental programming. This includes monthly in-person cohort gatherings focused on child development, caregiver connection, health, wellness, and strengthening family relationships. The Parent Mentor will act as a trusted resource, build a supportive community, encourage positive caregiver-child interactions, and connect families with resources promoting healthy development.
Requirements
- Associate’s Degree
- A minimum of 1 year of positive parenting experience working with children ages 0-3 years old
- A minimum of 1 year of experience working with diverse communities
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficient in MS Office 365 Suite

Responsibilities
- Promote the culture, mission, and brand of the Louisiana Children’s Museum while projecting a positive image to families, staff, volunteers, community partners, and the public.
- Serve as the consistent Parent Mentor and primary support contact for families participating in the First 1000 Days one-year pilot program.
- Build and maintain positive, supportive relationships with parents, caregivers, children, and families.
- Provide supportive listening, encouragement, and positive reinforcement to caregivers regarding their interactions with their child.
- Model child-centered, developmentally appropriate practices, including nurturing guidance, positive support, and appropriate structure.
- Support families in understanding early childhood development, developmental milestones, and caregiver-child engagement strategies.
- Respond to parent questions related to early childhood development and parenting resources, seeking additional information or referrals when needed.
- Serve as a communication hub between families, LCM, and program partners.
- Communicate regularly with families through email and text messaging, including developmental tips, resources, reminders, and social-emotional engagement opportunities.
- Maintain timely and responsive communication while providing individualized support to participating families.
- Support documentation of family participation, engagement, and communication for program evaluation and continuous improvement.
- Attend and support monthly cohort meetings held at Clover on the second Saturday of each month, including participant check-in and attendance tracking, assisting with setup and breakdown, preparing and organizing materials, supporting activities and caregiver-child engagement, and helping create a welcoming and inclusive environment for families.
- Collaborate with LCM team members and Clover partners to support successful program implementation.
- Participate in regular meetings with the Early Learning Director for training, reflection, feedback, and program development.
- Assist with collecting feedback and observations to support evaluation of the one-year pilot program.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
