About The Position
Premier Swim Academy is looking for a fun, energetic, and experienced early childhood development professional to join their team as a Parent and Me Swim Instructor. This role focuses on helping children ages 4 months to 36 months hit important developmental milestones while learning to swim, and also supports parents in their child's swimming journey. The position is year-round and part-time, with hours ranging from 1.5 to 10 hours per week depending on seasonal demand. Consistent availability on Saturdays from 9:00 am to 11:30 am is required.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in child development or related education fields.
- 4+ years of working with children aged 0-3 years.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a StarGuard Elite Basic Life Support certification.
- Available on Saturdays 8:40a-12:15p.
Nice To Haves
- Experience working with children with disabilities or adaptive learning needs.
- Previous aquatics or instructor experience.
- A degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or Child Psychology.
- Additional availability come spring & summer.
- StarGuard Elite Lifeguard certification.
Responsibilities
- Lead engaging Parent and Me classes, teaching swim lessons designed for infants and toddlers that combine early education and child development milestones with fun, interactive water activities.
- Follow a set curriculum while keeping classes exciting and educational.
- Supervise and safeguard all participants during group and private lessons, and on the pool deck, ensuring everyone follows safety rules.
- Communicate important updates with the supervisor quickly and clearly.
- Maintain open, positive communication with parents, offering feedback on their child’s progress and education journey.
- Provide excellent customer service to families, answering questions, and creating a welcoming atmosphere.
- Help maintain the cleanliness and order of the swim programs.
- Build positive relationships with fellow employees and instructors, working together to meet Premier’s education goals.
- Attend quarterly in-service training programs to enhance skills and continue education.
