About The Position

Community Prevention Partnership (CPP), part of CHOR Youth and Family Services, is seeking a Certified Parent Educator who is passionate about supporting families and strengthening parent-child relationships. This is a salaried, full-time position with flexible hours, serving 20–25 families who are pregnant or parenting children from birth through kindergarten. For more than 140 years, The Children’s Home of Reading (CHOR) has been a pillar of hope for children and families. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, social work, health, psychology, or a related field (or equivalent international degree) preferred
  • Supervised experience working with young children and/or parents preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills (nonjudgmental, empathetic, reflective)
  • Ability to build rapport and empower families by focusing on strengths
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated in a field-based role
  • Basic computer skills (email, internet, word processing)
  • Completion of Parents as Teachers Foundational and Model Implementation Trainings prior to service delivery (training provided)
  • Successful completion of federal and state background checks (criminal, FBI, and child abuse clearances)
  • Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License
  • Physical and drug screening (including THC)
  • Ability to attend and successfully complete all required trainings

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of Parents as Teachers Foundational and Model Implementation Trainings prior to service delivery (training provided)

Responsibilities

  • Recruit and engage families into the program
  • Complete initial and annual family-centered assessments
  • Develop, monitor, and review family goals
  • Conduct personal home visits focused on parent-child interaction, parenting practices, and family well-being
  • Plan, deliver, and document visits using PAT curricula
  • Facilitate monthly group connections to promote social support, learning, and parent-child engagement
  • Complete developmental screenings and health reviews for enrolled children
  • Connect families to community resources and supportive services
  • Support transitions to preschool, kindergarten, or other services as needed
  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation and records
  • Organize and inventory program supplies and materials
  • Participate in weekly reflective supervision and team meetings
  • Complete required professional development and maintain Parent Educator certification
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement efforts
