About The Position

Parents as Teachers is a free parent education and support program. Parent educators provide coaching and one-on-one support to families. The four main components of the program are: Personal visits: Parent educators' partner with families to set an agenda for each personal visit. Research-informed information is shared by the parent educator to promote parenting behaviors that encourage positive parent-child interactions and provide concrete supports for families in times of need. Parent educators empower parents to be the observers of their child's development and reflect on their family’s well-being. Groups: Parent educators facilitate group connections and create a network where parents learn from each other, support one another, and grow as parents together. Screenings: Regular screenings during personal visits help make sure children are healthy, safe, and developing on track. Parent screening increases family engagement and identifies places for referral and goal setting. Resources: Parent educators make the introductions and references for families to connect with other valuable resources and agencies.
