About The Position

The Springfield City School District is seeking a Parent Educator for the 2026-2027 school year. This role involves implementing the Parents as Teachers (PAT) model within homes, focusing on parent-child interaction, development-centered parenting, and overall family well-being. The Parent Educator will utilize the PAT Foundational Curriculum in a culturally sensitive manner, partnering with families through personal visits, group meetings, screenings, and connecting them to community resources. The district serves approximately 7,500 Pre-K through grade 12 students in a vibrant learning community.

Requirements

Minimum of an Associate's degree in early childhood education, social work, health or a related field of study
Experience working with young children and their parents
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to establish rapport with families and empower them by building on their strengths
Strong organizational and record keeping skills
Ability to work independently and be self-motivated
Computer skills include web browsing, email, internet, and word processing

Responsibilities

Plan, provide and document regular personal visits focused on parent-child interaction, development-centered parenting and family well-being using the Foundational Curriculum Prenatal to 5 Years
Complete an initial and annual family-centered assessment with each family
Develop, monitor, and review goals with each family
Connect families to resources that help them reach their stated goals and address their needs
Help parents and children transition to other services as needed
Maintain and submit in a timely manner all required family and program documentation
Organize and inventory supplies, materials, etc.
Represent the Parents as Teachers program at various community events supporting families and/or young children
Engage in recruitment activities
Coordinate services with other community programs offering services to parents and their young children
Obtain competency-based professional development and renew parent educator certification annually
Participate in at least two hours of reflective supervision and staff meetings monthly
Other duties as assigned by supervisor
