About The Position

Cornerstones of Care is seeking a Parent Aid to provide support services to parents and families, strengthen relationships, and help reunify parents and children. The role builds trusting, nurturing, and supportive relationships through short- and long-term interventions using social work and educational methods, including individual and/or group family support and supervised visitation. The Parent Aid is part of the Missouri Foster Care team and reports to the Director of Foster Care and Adoption. The position is based at the Columbia Office in Columbia, Missouri, and is part-time. The schedule is flexible and may include evenings and weekends. The listed salary range is $15.00–$17.60 per hour.

Requirements

At least 2 years of experience working with children and families.
High school diploma or GED.
Knowledge of child development practices.
At least 21 years of age.
Pass a background check, physical, and drug screening.
Valid driver’s license in the state of residence.
Proof of current vehicle insurance.
Reliable transportation.
Willingness to work a flexible, non-structured schedule that may include evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

Supervise visitation between parents and children in foster care in an office or community setting.
Engage families using a strength-based approach that encourages clients to recognize their strengths and make self-directed efforts toward change.
Maintain files according to agency requirements.
Transport families as necessary.
Use independent judgment and discretion in decision-making.
Promote positive parenting and child development while reducing the risk of child maltreatment.
