About The Position
Join Children's Habilitation Center, a unique long-term care facility in the Midwest, as a Paraprofessional (Teacher Assistant). This role offers the opportunity to gain rare experience working with infants and children. The Paraprofessional implements educational programming per the Individual Education Plan in compliance with CHC policies and procedures.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Paraprofessional certification is required
- Experience working with students with complex medical needs and intellectual disabilities.
- Ability to pass criminal background check and drug testing
- Must be able to lift, push, pull or carry a minimum of 50 lbs.
Nice To Haves
- Experience working with various socioeconomic populations is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Facilitates student work and implements classroom routine.
- Implements lesson plans designed by teacher.
- Works directly with students, individually or in groups, on assigned programs
- Complete daily documentation
- Keeps classroom & equipment organized.
- Participates on education committees as assigned.
- Distributes classroom materials.
- Participates in field trips and special events.
- Participates in collaboration within the department and all other disciplines.
- Participates in quality improvement activities.
- Responsible for daily classroom attendance.
