Paraprofessionals work in a high school setting, following established Individual Educational Plans (IEPs) to improve socially significant behaviors under the supervision of a Teacher and Building Principal/Special Education Director. This role involves incorporating educational objectives into daily activities, facilitating skill generalization and maintenance, communicating with parents, maintaining student records and materials, and assisting students individually or in groups with lesson assignments. The position requires ensuring student safety, helping to facilitate communication and social-emotional skills, and may involve assisting with toileting and lifting. Students may present with behavioral issues, medical conditions, elopement risks, aggression, and require de-escalation. Reliable and consistent attendance is essential, and other duties may be assigned.
