About The Position

This position is for the 26/27 Calendar Year. The Paraprofessional will support teachers in providing instruction to students needing more intensive math and/or reading support. They will assist in establishing a positive learning environment, responding to individual student needs, and operating classroom equipment. The role involves tutoring students individually and in small groups, monitoring student progress, grading papers, assisting with record keeping, and preparing instructional materials. The Paraprofessional must adhere to federal laws on confidentiality (FERPA) and work cooperatively with supervisors, co-workers, and students. They are expected to understand and follow complex instructions, perform responsibilities with minimal supervision, and effectively communicate with the school district community while maintaining a positive attitude and meeting attendance standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate’s Degree, two years of post-secondary education or completion of the Para Pro Exam.
  • General knowledge of basic technology.
  • Experience in working with and supervising groups of children.
  • Experience w/ technology (i.e. word, google, excel)
  • Excellent communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Assist teachers with providing instruction to students who have been identified as needing more intensive math and/or reading instruction.
  • Assist teachers in establishing a positive learning environment and respond to the individual needs of students.
  • Appropriately operate all classroom equipment.
  • Assist students with class assignments individually and in small groups.
  • Tutor students as directed individually and in small groups.
  • Assist teacher with small group instruction.
  • Assist in monitoring student progress.
  • Grade papers and assist the teacher with record keeping.
  • Prepare instructional materials and supplies for use.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
