About The Position
Golden Key Center for Exceptional Children is an accredited non-public special needs charter school serving children with Autism and other developmental disabilities. We are currently hiring Paraprofessionals to support students in our specialized, non-public charter school serving Preschool through 8th grade. This role involves meaningful, hands-on work and making a direct impact on students' lives daily. You will work closely with teachers and school leadership to support students in both educational and daily living activities.
Requirements
- Associate’s Degree, High School Diploma, or Paraprofessional Aide Permit
- Ability (or willingness to obtain) an Educational Aide Permit through the Ohio Department of Education & Workforce
- Complete required training (e.g., bloodborne pathogens, de-escalation, ethics)
- Pass background requirements for school employment
- Be comfortable supporting students with medical and developmental needs (training provided)
Nice To Haves
- Experience working with students with special needs is preferred
Responsibilities
- Support students in small groups or one-on-one learning environments
- Reinforce classroom instruction and help maintain a positive learning space
- Assist with daily living needs such as feeding, hygiene, and mobility (training provided)
- Follow individualized education and behavior plans
- Monitor student behavior and provide support when needed
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to prepare materials and track student progress
- Help ensure a safe, respectful, and structured classroom environment
