About The Position
This position is scheduled for 35 hours per week and is located in Winterville, NC. Winterville Charter Academy, which opened in 2015, serves students in grades K-8. The academy has been recognized as the “Best Charter/Non-Traditional School of 2023 and 2024” in Pitt County, North Carolina, by The Daily Reflector. It prioritizes academics, safety, and moral virtue, and offers strong educator support from school leadership and curriculum & instruction specialists. The academy provides a fully mapped-out curriculum with supporting materials and research-based supplementals, along with opportunities for career advancement through dean programs, mentor programs, and professional development lead roles. The school was also an award recipient for School Attendance, Academic Growth, and "Taking flight" in the NHA Voice of the Parent survey in 2023.
Requirements
- Must meet state requirements for being a Title 1 paraprofessional.
- Knowledge of and the ability to assist in teaching reading, writing, and/or mathematics.
- Understanding of and capability to navigate technical systems.

Responsibilities
- Assess student abilities and provide instructional assistance for students in need of academic intervention through 1:1 or group workshops as directed by the classroom teacher and designated instructional leader.
- Commit to educating the whole student – academically, morally, and socially.
- Implement result-driven curriculum to achieve significant growth from fall to spring testing.
- Attend professional development and articulation meetings with classroom teachers and parents as required.
