About The Position

Provide instructional reinforcement of lesson plans, under direction of classroom teacher. Serve as a positive, nurturing guide for students. Model the school's professional and ethical standards when interacting with students, parents, staff, and community members. Participate in planning sessions with the learning team, communicating with parents and school officials when necessary.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Associate’s degree (or equivalent)
  • 60+ College Credit Hours
  • Receive a passing score of 460+ on ETS ParaPro Assessment

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in teaching
  • Experience working with students
  • Effective communication skills with adults and children
  • Understanding of basic principles of childhood development
  • Familiarity with educational software and willingness to learn new systems
  • Certification in first aid and CPR

Responsibilities

  • Co-teach lesson components, as determined by the teachers, by leading small-group and individual discussion and reviewing classwork
  • Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with students, parents and staff, and participate in parent-teacher conferences and faculty meetings and events
  • Uses identified needs to guide the learning process toward student achievement of district's reading and/or math content standards
  • Uses a variety of manipulatives and hands-on activities to support content standards and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers
  • Provides evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, administrative guidelines, or specific program requirements
  • Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of the classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner
  • Student supervision responsibilities
  • Be on time to assigned duty location
  • Be fully present during duty time
  • Report any necessary issues or concerns to the classroom teacher or building principal
  • Suggest any necessary changes or modifications to classroom teacher or building principal
  • Title I/31A Duties along with general fund duties (i.e. lunch/recess duty, arrival/dismissal duties)
  • Must complete PARS log
