Requirements

  • Passion for education and putting students first
  • An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to be the best you can be
  • College credits, Associate’s Degree, Bachelors Degree or CBEST
  • Three professional references, including at least one from a previous supervisor
  • State & federal background checks
  • TB risk assessment or test

Nice To Haves

  • Worked with children who have Special Education needs
  • Spent time in Special Education settings
  • Any Special Education specific training
  • ABA experience (Applied Behavior Analysis)
  • Experience working in K-12 schools
  • Experience with assisting in various mod to severe scenarios such as Toileting; Personal 1:1 Care; Non-Verbal; Challenging or Aggressive Behaviors in the Classroom

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with students with special needs in small group or 1:1 settings
  • Build rapport and trust with the children in your care
  • Foster a safe and nurturing learning environment
  • Support resource teacher(s) in delivering IEP's (individual education plans)
  • Take direction from lead educators and assist when needed
  • Assisting various mod to severe scenarios such as Toileting; Personal 1:1 Care; Non-Verbal; Challenging or Aggressive Behaviors in the Classroom
  • Comfortable working with medically fragile/high behavior situations
  • Sitting, standing, and walking, and able to lift up to 30 lbs while safely assisting students
  • Observe and communicate across varied environments, incl. indoor and outdoor settings
