About The Position

Lowell Public Schools is hiring a Paraprofessional as a long-term substitute. The paraprofessional assists the classroom teacher in providing developmentally appropriate activities and concrete learning experiences for students with varied developmental needs, including students with special needs and English language learners. The role also supports classroom and school routines, student safety, and activities outside the classroom.

Requirements

• Successfully pass the Paraprofessional test, or have 48 or more college credits, or hold a bachelor's degree.
• Experience with the appropriate age group.

• A bachelor's degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher in providing developmentally appropriate activities and concrete learning activities for students with varied developmental needs, including students with and without special needs.
• Work with English language learner (ELL) students.
• Assist students in entering and leaving buildings and classrooms; this may include lifting and carrying students.
• Assist the teacher during activities such as field trips and emergency drills.
• Assist with classroom routines, including snack time, washing dishes, clean-up, bathroom activities, and similar tasks.
• Help maintain a healthy and safe environment for children.
• Perform other tasks and assume responsibilities as assigned by the building principal.
• For health positions only, feed children, change diapers, and assist with toileting.
