About The Position

Krejci Academy is a therapeutic day school in Warrenville, IL, serving individuals on the autism spectrum ages 5 - 22 years. We are able to provide small class sizes that speak to students' individual needs. Each classroom is led by a Special Education Teacher with the support of a Teacher Assistant and one or more Paraprofessionals. Paraprofessionals provide support to the classroom teacher in implementing the therapeutic treatment program. Paraprofessionals often work one-on-one with students but can also support the whole class.

Requirements

• Must be at least 19 years old.
• Must have or be eligible to obtain Paraprofessional certification or Sub license.
• Must be able to commit to the work schedule (8:45am - 2:45pm, Monday through Friday).
• Must be capable of speaking English clearly and fluently to communicate with staff, children and parents.
• Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
• Must be able to lift 75 pounds.
• Must be able to move quickly to respond to client behavior challenges.
• Must act in a manner that reflects a calm, positive and professional demeanor at all times.
• Must be able to maintain regular attendance in accordance with agency.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to the classroom teacher in implementing the therapeutic treatment program.
• Work one-on-one with students.
• Support the whole class.
