About The Position

Golden Key Center for Exceptional Children is an accredited non-public special needs charter school serving children with Autism and other developmental disabilities. They are currently hiring Paraprofessionals to support students in their specialized, non-public charter school serving Preschool through 8th grade. This role involves meaningful, hands-on work with a direct impact on students' lives every day.

Requirements

Associate’s Degree, High School Diploma, or Paraprofessional Aide Permit
Ability (or willingness to obtain) an Educational Aide Permit through the Ohio Department of Education & Workforce
Complete required training (e.g., bloodborne pathogens, de-escalation, ethics)
Pass background requirements for school employment
Be patient, compassionate, and comfortable working with students with diverse needs
Bring a positive attitude and strong sense of responsibility
Communicate effectively and work well as part of a team
Be adaptable and willing to step in where support is needed
Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and strong ethical standards

Nice To Haves

Experience working with students with special needs is preferred

Responsibilities

Support students in small groups or one-on-one learning environments
Reinforce classroom instruction and help maintain a positive learning space
Assist with daily living needs such as feeding, hygiene, and mobility (training provided)
Follow individualized education and behavior plans
Monitor student behavior and provide support when needed
Collaborate with teachers and staff to prepare materials and track student progress
Help ensure a safe, respectful, and structured classroom environment
