The Paraprofessional in the Positive Action Center (PAC) helps maintain a caring, instructional, and positive neutral environment where students can learn responsibility. The role uses re-teaching opportunities and prevention and intervention strategies, and helps students build confidence in applying learned skills to real-life situations by accepting logical consequences. The paraprofessional may also provide academic assistance and work with teachers to collect assignments. The position works with PAC administrators and trainers, students, staff, parents, teachers, and other district personnel. It requires maintaining confidentiality, documenting information, completing record-keeping duties, serving as a positive role model, and maintaining an instructional focus. The paraprofessional must learn alternative approaches to inappropriate school behavior, use crisis-management strategies to address potential conflicts and help ensure safety, and work effectively with a diverse student population. This is a temporary, part-time position for the second semester only, beginning in January 2027. The schedule is 5.5 hours per day, Monday through Friday, for 10 months. It is non-exempt and classified; wages follow the negotiated agreement and Board-adopted salary structure. The position works under the direct supervision of the department supervisor for day-to-day tasks and reports to the School Building Principal. Limited local travel may be required. Work takes place in an office environment and school buildings.
