About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to support the educational needs of students at Albany Area Secondary School. This part-time position involves working closely with teachers and students to create a positive learning environment, assist with classroom activities, and provide additional support to students as needed. The ideal candidate will have a passion for education and a commitment to fostering student success.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting is a plus.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in helping students succeed.
Basic computer skills and familiarity with educational technology.
Ability to pass a background check and comply with school district policies.
Flexibility to work part-time hours as scheduled.
Must have or be able to obtain Highly Qualified Paraprofessional Status within 60 days from the start of employment.

Responsibilities

Assist teachers in preparing instructional materials and organizing classroom activities.
Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, helping them with assignments and understanding course content.
Monitor student behavior and provide guidance to promote a positive classroom atmosphere.
Support students with special needs by implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) under the direction of the teacher.
Assist in the supervision of students during lunch, recess, and other non-classroom activities.
Maintain student records and documentation as required.
Communicate effectively with teachers, students, and parents regarding student progress and needs.
Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervising teacher or school administration.
