About The Position

Hope Learning Academy is seeking a full-time Paraprofessional to support students in a classroom setting in Glen Carbon, Illinois. Hope is a clinical, educational, and therapeutic provider for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorder. Its mission is to provide services in inclusive environments that help people fulfill their potential through evidence-based treatment, advocacy, and community education. Hope can provide required testing for uncertified applicants. The role is scheduled Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and pays $17.15–$18.80 per hour. The Paraprofessional supports students’ educational needs and IEP goals, encourages independence, tracks and enters data, and helps maintain a stimulating, accepting, and safe learning environment.

Requirements

Be 19 years of age or older.
Have a high school diploma or equivalent education.
Hold or attain an Illinois Paraprofessional license.
Have a valid Illinois driver’s license.
Successfully complete background clearance, a physical, an agility test, and drug/alcohol screening.
Be able to lift, push, pull, and carry 50 pounds.
Be able to stand, walk, grasp, reach, stoop, crouch, crawl, and run.

Nice To Haves

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in an education- or human-services-related field.
Experience working with people with developmental disabilities.
Experience in a classroom setting.

Responsibilities

Support students in a classroom setting at Hope Learning Academy and complete appropriate data tracking and entry.
Provide instruction and assistance that meets students’ Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals and objectives.
Encourage student independence while following the classroom schedule and implementing educational programs.
Foster a stimulating, accepting, and safe learning environment for all students.
