The essential role of the Pre-Kindergarten Paraeducator is to assist the teacher with instruction responsibilities. This involves interacting with, supporting, and encouraging children throughout the day, assisting the teacher in implementing daily routines, assessing student progress, and participating in curriculum planning. The paraprofessional will instruct students on the appropriate use of classroom materials, assist with classroom management, and help prepare materials for activities. They will also participate in school visits, assist with registration and screening, and attend staff development activities. The role requires maintaining a safe and clean learning environment, assisting with beginning and end-of-day procedures, and working with individual, small, and large groups of students. Additionally, the paraprofessional will assist students in following teacher instructions, provide instructional leadership when a substitute teacher is present, and notify the principal of absences. Maintaining CPR certification and performing other assigned duties are also part of the role.
