About The Position

UCP of Central Florida is seeking a Paraprofessional with a background in Performing Arts to join their team at UCP Bailes Community Academy in Orlando, FL. This role involves assisting administrators and classroom teachers in integrating performing arts (music, drama, and dance) into the curriculum for students from K-12th grade. The ideal candidate will have experience in performing arts disciplines, a positive approach to working with families and staff, and the ability to manage a busy classroom while ensuring a safe and secure environment. UCP is a non-profit agency dedicated to unlocking the potential of children with and without disabilities.

Requirements

  • General knowledge of performing arts disciplines.
  • Experience working with students (k-12th grade).
  • A positive approach to working with families and staff.
  • Ability to assist in managing a busy classroom while remaining dedicated to providing a safe and secure environment.
  • G.E.D. or High School Diploma.
  • 4 years of documented training in performing arts discipline.
  • 2 years or more experience teaching performing arts to children.
  • Experience coordinating performances and field trips.

Nice To Haves

  • 45 Hour Department of Children and Family Training within 90 days if working in PreK.
  • Experience working with students with special needs in a multi-disciplinary setting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct, instructional support, coaching and guidance to teachers integrating performing arts within their classrooms and embedded throughout the curriculum(s).
  • Develop, select and model lessons that meaningfully integrate the performing arts (music, dance, and drama/theater) as an instructional strategy and incorporate use of arts integration.
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop plans to improve student performance in academic subjects through arts integrations.
  • Assists teachers in developing accommodations and adaptations to ensure full participation of all students.
  • Assists teachers in creating an arts integrated classroom environment that provide for student involvement in the learning process and enables each students to achieve their learning objectives by coaching and guiding teachers.
  • Provide input regarding the planning of instructional goals, objectives and methods in arts integration.
  • Participates in and delivers arts integration professional development to families and staff members.
  • Assist in creation and implementation of performances (i.e. Shareperformances, shows, etc.).
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
