About The Position

This position involves providing instructional support to kindergarten students under the supervision of a teacher. The paraprofessional will assist students with academic tasks, reinforce instruction, and complement classroom activities. Responsibilities include working with individuals or small groups, supporting in computer labs or library/media centers, and communicating with staff, students, and parents regarding student progress.

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent.
Must be "Highly Qualified" as required under NCLB (60+ college credits or passing score of 460 on ETS Parapro Assessment).

Responsibilities

Assist students with academic tasks (writing, math, reading, etc.).
Communicate effectively with staff, students, and parents.
Work well within a team structure.
Work with all learners.
Initiate communications with teachers and the building principal regarding student progress.
Provide instructional assistance in a computer lab.
Provide support in a library or media center.
Reinforce instruction by assisting the teacher in administering drill activities for individuals or small groups.
Complement instructional activities by helping students who may need additional support during lessons.
Supplement instruction by assisting the teacher with individuals or small groups of pupils on follow-up activities.
Provide instructional support services under the supervision of a teacher.
Other duties may be assigned.
