About The Position

Sierra Vista Unified School District is seeking passionate, dedicated individuals to join our team as Paraprofessionals. This role involves assisting teachers in instructional tasks, clerical record-keeping, and guiding student activities. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • An Associate's Degree or 60 college credits or State/Local ParaPro Assessment test required
  • Ability to obtain a valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Knowledgeable of the basic course content for students; and, educational goals and objectives for each assigned student
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and reports, to monitor students, speak and write effectively, establish and maintain effective relationships, work with and secure the cooperation of students
  • Demonstrated general proficiency in computer programs such as Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook and with specialized computer-based equipment and software
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations
  • Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with staff, students, parents and community members
  • Ability to understand and maintain students' and parents' rights to confidentiality and not violate those rights; nor discuss students in inappropriate places or with anyone not in direct contact with such individual students
  • Utilize, with fidelity, the District Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) program at the building level
  • Ensure information obtained through the course of duties associated with this position is held in the highest of confidentiality
  • Perform all duties in accordance with Federal and State laws, district procedures and Board policies; including mandatory reporting procedures

Responsibilities

  • Under general supervision of the classroom teacher, to assist the teacher in instructional tasks and in routine clerical record-keeping and in the overall guidance of student activities involving games, sports, arts and crafts, and various recreational programs and Library.
  • Assist in planning the day's activity
  • Assist in identifying area of needs related to the program
  • Assist in the development, planning and implementation of the program.
  • Provide a safe and supportive environment so students may fully access their education.
  • Accompany and assist students throughout the school day as necessitated by the IEP
  • Maintains required records and files and perform general clerical
