The job of the ECSE paraprofessional is to support the teacher-classroom in the development, implementation and monitoring of a program designed to enhance the success of students academically and behaviorally. This role involves supporting the mission and values of Joplin Schools, adhering to all applicable policies and regulations, and ensuring the safety and well-being of students. The paraprofessional will maintain professional relationships, communicate effectively, and provide excellent customer service. They will also comply with privacy rights, react productively to change, and actively participate in professional development. The position requires conducting official business professionally, arriving on time, attending required meetings, maintaining accurate records, and solving practical problems. The paraprofessional will read and interpret documents to apply to job duties and implement instructional strategies developed for students under the direction of the teacher. This includes reinforcing or reteaching skills, meeting the educational, behavioral, and physical needs of students, preparing for classroom instruction, and implementing various teaching techniques and behavior management strategies. The role also involves responding to student needs, removing barriers to learning, and carrying out other assigned duties.
