About The Position

The primary duty of the Classroom Assistant is to help the Head Teacher with classroom instruction and other duties as assigned. This role supports the teaching team in implementing curriculum and Head Start Performance Standards, ensuring a safe and developmentally appropriate learning environment for young children. The position also involves active participation in maintaining classroom hygiene, assisting with meals and toileting, and fostering positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues. The Classroom Assistant will contribute to the organization's recruitment efforts and uphold a positive organizational culture.

Requirements

  • Must be able to assist with preparation and clean-up of meals.
  • Must be able to complete classroom sanitation and hygiene routines.
  • Must be able to assist with toileting/diapering.
  • Must participate in all necessary trainings or meetings.
  • Must promote the organization in the community by sharing the responsibility of active recruitment of children.
  • Must support the program-wide adoption of the teaching pyramid model to promote the development of young children's social-emotional competence and address challenging behavior.
  • Must create and maintain a positive organizational culture by demonstrating the program-wide behavioral expectations in their social interactions with children, families, community members and colleagues.
  • Must structure a developmentally appropriate education experience in the classroom.
  • Must teach students to follow rules and procedures in the classroom and school.
  • Must monitor student's progress throughout the year.
  • Must communicate all progress and concerns with tact and professionalism to head teacher/Program Manager.
  • Must build and maintain positive relationships with parents.
  • Must enforce safety and security standards for children, staff, and visitors.
  • Must maintain knowledge of research, developments, and best practices in early childhood education.
