About The Position

Assists with instruction, student care and discipline, and preparation of instructional materials for pre-kindergarten students ages three, four, and/or five, as directed by the classroom teacher. Helps provide a supportive learning environment. The role is represented by an employee association (bargaining unit) and must follow District policies and procedures, including Colorado licensing requirements for Child Care Centers.

Requirements

Meet acceptable qualifications described in the District's paraprofessional qualifications guide.
For ECE paraprofessionals: provide a copy of a high school diploma or GED and successfully complete ECE 101 within a designated period determined after hire.
Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in the community; believe in and support all students so they feel seen and heard and have access to high-quality education.
Maintain a permanent home address in Colorado while working for DPS.
Be able, with or without accommodations, to meet the physical demands of the position.

Responsibilities

Perform classroom duties such as preparing instructional materials, assisting with instruction, providing student care and discipline, and keeping the classroom clean and organized.
Assist with field trips, parent meetings (including providing child care), and other classroom activities.
Plan and evaluate program and student needs daily with the teacher, and address specific student needs identified by the teacher.
Communicate with teachers and administrators about performance and disciplinary issues.
Communicate with parents about routine issues as directed.
Attend and participate in required pre-service training programs and staff development meetings.
Maintain the confidentiality of student information.
Follow established District policies and procedures and comply with program rules and regulations, including Colorado licensing requirements for Child Care Centers.
