About The Position

Lowell Public Schools is seeking a Paraprofessional, CSA (Long Term Substitute) to assist classroom teachers in providing developmentally appropriate activities for students. This role involves supporting students with and without special needs, as well as English Language Learners (ELL). The paraprofessional will help with student transitions, classroom routines, maintaining a safe environment, and assisting with activities like field trips and emergency drills. For Health positions, additional duties include feeding, changing diapers, and toileting children.

Requirements

• Successfully passed the Paraprofessional test, OR 48 college credits or more, OR a Bachelor's Degree.
• Experience with the appropriate age group.

Responsibilities

• Assist classroom teacher in providing developmentally appropriate activities for students.
• Implement concrete learning activities that meet the varied developmental needs of students with and without special needs.
• Work with ELL students.
• Assist classroom teacher in getting students into and out of buildings and classrooms, which may include lifting and carrying students.
• Assist teacher during activities such as field trips and emergency drills.
• Assist teacher with classroom routines such as snack, washing dishes, clean-up, and bathroom activities.
• Assist teacher in maintaining a healthy and safe environment for children.
• Perform other tasks and assume responsibilities as assigned by the building principal.
• For HEALTH positions: include feeding, changing diapers and toileting children.
