About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team at Clinton Junior High School as a Paraprofessional in the Special Education department. This full-time position involves providing support to students with diverse learning needs, helping them achieve their academic and social goals in a safe and inclusive environment. The ideal candidate will work closely with teachers, students, and families to facilitate a positive learning experience and promote independence among students with disabilities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree or higher preferred.
  • Previous experience working with children, particularly in a special education setting, is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of special education practices, learning disabilities, and behavior management techniques.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help students succeed.
  • Ability to adapt to the diverse needs of students and modify support strategies as necessary.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills and the ability to assist with educational technology.
  • Certification as a paraprofessional
  • Must pass background checks and adhere to all school district policies regarding safety and conduct.

Responsibilities

  • Assist classroom teachers in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students during instructional activities, ensuring they understand the material and remain engaged.
  • Help students with daily living skills, including personal care, organization, and social interactions.
  • Monitor and document student progress, behavior, and engagement, reporting any concerns to the supervising teacher or special education staff.
  • Support classroom management by implementing behavior intervention strategies as directed by the teacher.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge related to special education practices.
  • Assist in the preparation and organization of classroom materials and resources.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, encouraging their self-esteem and independence.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and adhere to all school policies and procedures.
