About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team at Clinton Junior High School as a Paraprofessional in the Special Education department. This full-time position involves providing support to students with diverse learning needs, helping them achieve their academic and social goals in a safe and inclusive environment. The ideal candidate will work closely with teachers, students, and families to facilitate a positive learning experience and promote independence among students with disabilities.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree or higher preferred.
Previous experience working with children, particularly in a special education setting, is highly desirable.
Knowledge of special education practices, learning disabilities, and behavior management techniques.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help students succeed.
Ability to adapt to the diverse needs of students and modify support strategies as necessary.
Proficiency in basic computer skills and the ability to assist with educational technology.
Certification as a paraprofessional
Must pass background checks and adhere to all school district policies regarding safety and conduct.

Responsibilities

Assist classroom teachers in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
Provide one-on-one or small group support to students during instructional activities, ensuring they understand the material and remain engaged.
Help students with daily living skills, including personal care, organization, and social interactions.
Monitor and document student progress, behavior, and engagement, reporting any concerns to the supervising teacher or special education staff.
Support classroom management by implementing behavior intervention strategies as directed by the teacher.
Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge related to special education practices.
Assist in the preparation and organization of classroom materials and resources.
Foster positive relationships with students, encouraging their self-esteem and independence.
Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and adhere to all school policies and procedures.
