About The Position

Sheridan County School District 2 is looking for a positive, professional, and motivated Paraprofessional to join the Sheridan Junior High School team. This position is eligible for Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance, Life Insurance, Supplemental Life and AD&D Insurance, Medical and Dependent Care Flex Share Plans, Aflac, and an Employee Pension through Wyoming Retirement System. An overview of benefit offerings can be reviewed here. STARTING HOURLY RATE: $18.97 - $21.97 depending on experience ($1.00 increase for BA/BS)

Requirements

High School graduate or equivalent.
Good command of the English language.
Ability to work well with students and staff.
Working knowledge and competence in reading, math, English, and related academic subjects.
Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) - Annual Training
Other training as determined necessary based on specific disabilities of students served.

Nice To Haves

Typing and computer skills preferred.
Highly qualified (associate's degree OR pass the ParaPro exam) - This is for Title-1 Paraprofessional positions ONLY!

Responsibilities

Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material, specially designed instruction, or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
Assists the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities.
Helps students master equipment or instructional materials assigned by the teacher.
Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher.
Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips.
Assists with such large group activities as needed by the special education teacher and teacher.
Supports academic instruction, including reading, writing, math, and participates in other forms of verbal, non-verbal, and visual communication with students.
Monitors progress and provides documentation to the special education teacher, also assists with testing and make-up work, as assigned by the teacher.
Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information concerning school matters.
Works directly under the supervision of a special education teacher.
Supports students with self-help/self-care needs if necessary.
Other duties as assigned based on the student's needs.
