About The Position

Under limited supervision, this role uses specialized knowledge and skills to build GPM plans for Financial Advisors. The Paraplanner serves as a resource to Financial Advisors and their assistants regarding overall financial planning strategies, including Social Security, healthcare planning, retirement income planning, long-term care, life insurance and risk management, tax planning, and estate planning. This position resolves or recommends solutions to complex problems and delivers superior client service through accuracy, timeliness, and consistency.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of personal financial planning concepts.
  • Familiarity with financial planning software including MoneyGuidePro (GPM).
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of securities products including equities, fixed income, annuities, and options.
  • Knowledge of various investment and retirement accounts.
  • Knowledge of External Accounts and Data Aggregation system.
  • Knowledge of Portfolio Management applications.
  • Knowledge of Contact Management applications.
  • Knowledge of Proprietary broker and financial planning applications.
  • Knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures in supporting computer hardware and software.
  • Knowledge of software installation and removal.
  • Knowledge of computer maintenance, backup, and restoration procedures.
  • Knowledge of data networks and protocols.
  • Skill in operating personal computers, peripheral equipment, and telecommunication devices.
  • Skill in using operating system administration and diagnostic tools to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems.
  • Skill in using software to remote control end user computers.
  • Ability to learn and apply new information, skills, and processes quickly and provide comprehensive and objective analysis.
  • Organization and attention to detail sufficient to prioritize multiple tasks while working in a fast-paced dynamically changing environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications sufficient to produce documents, spreadsheets, and email.
  • Proficiency in operating standard office equipment and using required software applications, sufficient to provide basic troubleshooting.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and provide a high level of customer service in a calm, courteous, and professional manner.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking to quickly ascertain the true nature of problems and clearly communicate resolutions in a non-technical manner.

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university, with one (1) to two (2) years of relevant experience in the financial field, OR any equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training.
  • SIE required provided that an exemption or grandfathering cannot be applied.
  • Obtain licensing required to come under the RJA and RJFSA registered investment advisor.

Responsibilities

  • Build GPM plans on behalf of Financial Advisors.
  • Enter client data into financial planning software MoneyGuidePro (GPM).
  • Analyze financial data to construct comprehensive financial plans, covering areas such as Social Security, healthcare, retirement and income analysis, long-term care, life insurance and risk management, tax planning, and estate planning.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of personal and business financial planning concepts and stay informed of tax law changes and financial planning developments.
  • Respond to Financial Advisor questions by telephone, email, and occasional personal visits.
  • Take ownership of and independently handle the resolution of escalated issues and complex problems.
  • Stay abreast of, and comply with, company and department policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
