About The Position

Texas Health HEB is seeking a skilled Paramedic for their fast-paced, high-volume Emergency Department. This role involves working closely with physicians, RNs, respiratory therapy, and ancillary teams as a valued member of the interdisciplinary ED care team. Hospital-based paramedics function within a defined ED-specific scope of practice, performing advanced clinical skills under direct physician supervision in accordance with Texas Health Resources protocols. The department averages 100-200 patients per day and offers self-scheduling for work/life balance and opportunities for educational and career growth. The professional paramedic exhibits understanding of basic human needs and demonstrates recognition and understanding of patient’s affiliations.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent (GED) required
• 3 months paramedic experience or completion of a paramedic internship, required.
• EMT-P - Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic required or LP - Licensed Paramedic
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support, within 90 days of hire required
• BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
• PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support, within 90 days of hire required
• CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training (ED Only), within 60 days of hire required.

Nice To Haves

• 1 year Paramedic experience in EMS or Fire Dept preferred

Responsibilities

• Administers IV fluid without additives, saline flush, IV antibiotics, all IV medications excluding controlled and RSI medications.
• Administers ACLS drugs (including drips) using barcode medication verification (BMV) during medication administrations.
• Administers all IM and oral medications excluding controlled drugs.
• Plans the care of the patient.
• Completes accurate documentation in the electronic health record.
• Provides consistent attention to airway, intake, elimination, sleep, rest, mobility and hygiene needs.
• Applies antiembolic stockings and sequential compression devices.
• Cervical collar management.
• External defibrillation.
• Nasal cannula or oxygen mask application.
• Oral airway insertion and removal.
• Ultrasound-guided peripheral IV Access.
• Draw blood from ports.
• Other duties as assigned by the care team.
