About The Position

This position involves providing consistent, high-quality prehospital care as outlined by the SEMSA Standard of Care, Protocols, and accepted local and national treatment doctrines. The role requires an exemplary, safe, and professional demeanor at all times, acting as a catalyst for professionalism, integrity, confidentiality, and competency with patients, their families, the public, other agencies, coworkers, and SEMSA management. A dedication to self-improvement and lifelong learning is essential, including maintaining currency of all required certifications and licenses, and improving EMS leadership skills through reading, classes, meetings, and seminars. The position is accountable for providing feedback to management for improvements, maintaining timely, legible, and accurate recordkeeping, and serving as an educator for the public, students, and coworkers. Ultimately, the role is responsible for all aspects of patient care from initial contact until transfer to a higher level of care. Willingness to work overtime as necessary and other duties as assigned are also part of the role. Employees are expected to utilize company computer systems, including email, for communication and information dissemination.

Requirements

  • Current Paramedic in the State of California required.
  • Current ACLS required.
  • CA Ambulance Driver’s License – CA Resident
  • Current CPR required.
  • Current PHTLS / ITLS required.
  • Current PALS certification required.
  • Medical Examiner’s Certification
  • Norcal Certification
  • NREMT-Paramedic
  • Valid Nevada / California Driver’s license required.
  • Experience operating an emergency vehicle a plus.
  • A clean driving record mandatory.
  • Knowledge of medical policies, procedures and the SEMSA Standard of Care.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Self starter requiring little oversight.
  • Must be adaptable to change and able to function in a team based management structure.
  • Protect the privacy of all patient information in accordance with the Company’s privacy policies, procedures, and practices, as required by federal [and state] law, and in accordance with general principles of professionalism as a health care provider.
  • Access protected health information and other patient information only to the extent that is necessary to complete your job duties.
  • Share information only with those who have a need to know specific patient information to complete their job responsibilities related to treatment, payment or other company operations.
  • Report any concerns regarding the Company’s policies and procedures on patient privacy and any observed practices in violation of that policy to the designated company Privacy Officer.
  • Actively participate in Company privacy training and updates.
  • Communicate privacy policy information to coworkers, students, patients and others in accordance with Company policy.
  • Access to Protected Health Information (PHI) will be limited to those who need access to PHI to carry out their duties.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a high performance ALS system beneficial.
  • Experience in EMS and public education; field or classroom based desired.
  • Pre-hospital experience preferred.
