About The Position

This is a Casual (0.0 FTE) position with day/evening/night shifts and occasional weekends. Casual staff are expected to work two weekend shifts per quarter and pick up a shift no less than every 30 days, with minimum quarterly hour requirements of 96 hours (duty or on call shifts). Shift bids occur every six months based on seniority.

Requirements

  • Associate's or Vocational degree within 24 months from date of hire (waived for 4 years working in 911 environment or for returning paramedics in good standing within 12 months).
  • Passing of Fitness for Duty testing.
  • To obtain credentials in accordance with the Office of Medical Direction within the probational period and maintain thereafter.
  • Certified Paramedic - Office of EMS required if working in MN or Certified Paramedic - WI Emergency Medical Services required if working in WI.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Basic Life Source - American Heart Association or American Red Cross required upon hire.
  • Valid Driver’s License required upon hire - MN and WI residents must obtain a valid driver’s license in their state of residence within 60 days of employment.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support; American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

Nice To Haves

  • For employees hired prior to June 1, 2025, Pediatric Advanced Life Support required by January 1, 2027.

Responsibilities

  • Provides life support patient care to those suffering an injury, illness or mental health crisis in a pre-hospital setting.
  • Responds 911.
  • Directs care plan on scene.
  • Obtains and secures Class A narcotics.
  • Documents and provides reports to receiving facility.
  • Transports from scene or from facility to facility.
  • Establishes and maintains communications with internal and external customers.
  • Maintains vehicle and equipment.
  • Cleans and stocks.
  • Operates vehicle in accordance with driving laws and company procedure.
  • Maintains, sets up and uses equipment to include ventilators, IV pumps and other advanced level equipment per manufacturer and company procedure.
  • Reports safety and/or potential safety hazards.
  • Other duties as assigned.
