About The Position

The Paramedic, also referred to as an Emergency Care Technician (ECT), Emergency Department Technician (ED Tech), or Emergency Room Technician (ER Tech), works in the Emergency Department at Riverview Regional Medical Center in Gadsden, Alabama. The role uses field skills under hospital protocols and supervision, supporting patient care during emergencies in collaboration with nurses and physicians.

Requirements

• Current and valid paramedic license issued by the OEM/ADPH.
• Three years of paramedic experience.
• Current BCLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain it current.
• Obtain ACLS within 30 days of hire and maintain it current.
• Obtain PALS within 30 days of hire and maintain it current.
• Obtain BVP within 30 days of hire and maintain it current.
• Complete the dysrhythmia exam with a score of at least 84% within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform clinical procedures, including IV insertion, EKG acquisition, and continuous vital signs monitoring under supervision.
• Assist with airway management, oxygen therapy, suctioning, advanced airway procedures, and resuscitation efforts.
• Provide wound care, apply splints, assist with suturing, and respond as part of the team during medical emergencies.
• Transport patients to diagnostic areas or inpatient units and assist with room turnover and preparation.
• Stock essential supplies and perform point-of-care testing as permitted by hospital policy.
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and EMS personnel to support trauma care, high-acuity patient management, clinical procedures, and transitions of care.
