About The Position

Townsen Memorial Imaging Facility is currently seeking a Paramedic to join our amazing team!! The Paramedic is responsible for providing patient care, patient monitoring, intravenous access support for contrast administration, and emergency response support within the Imaging Department under the direction of the Radiologic Safety Officer and licensed healthcare providers. The Paramedic performs advanced patient assessment and interventions within the scope of Paramedic licensure and assists in promoting safe, efficient, and quality care for patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional imaging procedures.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of emergency medical care principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), cardiac rhythm interpretation, and emergency response protocols.
  • Knowledge of patient assessment techniques and the ability to recognize changes in patient condition.
  • Knowledge of infection prevention, safety standards, and patient confidentiality requirements.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, documentation standards, and electronic medical record systems.
  • Skill in patient monitoring, vital sign assessment, cardiac monitoring, and electrocardiogram (EKG) acquisition.
  • Skill in venipuncture, establishing and maintaining intravenous (IV) access for contrast administration and imaging procedures, specimen collection, and other procedures within the Paramedic scope of practice.
  • Skill in operating and maintaining patient care and emergency response equipment.
  • Ability to respond rapidly and appropriately to emergency situations and changing patient conditions.
  • Ability to exercise sound clinical judgment and make appropriate decisions within the scope of licensure.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage competing demands in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare team members.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and timely documentation.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, composure, and attention to detail during stressful situations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service while ensuring patient safety and quality care.
  • Graduate of an accredited Paramedic training program
  • Current Texas Paramedic certification/licensure in good standing
  • Candidates must possess Paramedic-level licensure at the time of hire and throughout employment
  • One (1) year hospital/surgery center experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certified
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certified
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certified

Responsibilities

  • Provides safe, efficient, and compassionate patient care within the scope of Paramedic licensure and organizational policies.
  • Assists with establishing and maintaining intravenous (IV) access for contrast administration and imaging procedures in accordance with departmental policies, physician orders, and scope of practice.
  • Responds promptly to patient care needs, changes in patient condition, and emergency situations occurring within the Imaging Department.
  • Performs patient assessments and communicates findings to the appropriate healthcare providers.
  • Assists with patient monitoring and supports the care of patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional imaging procedures.
  • Maintains competency in emergency response, airway management, cardiac monitoring, intravenous therapy, and other skills required for the position.
  • Collaborates effectively with physicians, nurses, technologists, and other members of the healthcare team to promote patient safety and quality outcomes.
  • Recognizes and reports significant changes in patient condition and assists with appropriate interventions.
  • Documents patient care activities, observations, and interventions accurately and timely in the medical record.
  • Demonstrates professionalism, accountability, and excellent customer service in all interactions with patients, families, physicians, and coworkers.
  • Maintains required certifications, competencies, and continuing education necessary to perform assigned responsibilities.
  • Ensures emergency equipment, supplies, and patient care areas are maintained in a safe and operational condition.
  • Complies with all organizational policies, safety standards, regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards.
  • Participates in departmental quality improvement, patient safety, and educational initiatives.
  • Perform other related tasks as needed.
