As a Paramedic for the Life Support Team, you will provide immediate medical treatment to patients presenting various critical injuries, illnesses and concerns. In this role, fast thinking and processing are essential, as every second counts in an emergency. Your tireless efforts help improve outcomes and make a lasting difference in the lives of patients, their families and your fellow caregivers. This is a regular PRN position, with caregivers working day/evening/night/weekend shifts between 7:00 a.m. -- 7:00 a.m., or 3:00 p.m. -- 7:00 a.m., following a 24-hours-on, 48-hours-off schedule. Caregivers work six shifts per schedule period, with each schedule covering four weeks.

Requirements

Completion of an accredited EMS-Paramedic training program
Current licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMTP) in the State of Ohio
Three years of experience as an EMT-P OR one year of EMT-P and four years of equivalent EMT experience
Current Basic Life Support Healthcare provider (BLS), Advanced, Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS)
Completion of a USDOT approved Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC) course required within six months of hire
Current valid Ohio Driver's License (VDL)

Nice To Haves

Experience in emergency room, etc., or critical care transport

Responsibilities

Provide immediate medical assessment and treatment to injured/ill patients on-site, in the community, and during transport to hospital.
Navigate an ambulance to scene of accident in response to emergency calls.
Maintain equipment, restock supplies and clean ambulances as necessary.
Assess the nature and extent of illness/injury and patient's history from available sources.
Determine appropriate independent or collaborative response.
Administer appropriate emergency medical care including life support procedures, decontamination protocols, fluid/drug administration, obtaining EKG readings and vital statistics monitoring in accordance with EMS protocols.
Communicate with medical personnel at hospital, report/record observations, and follow directives until report and hand-off at hospital.
