About The Position

Marquette General Hospital, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Paramedic to join their team. This role is vital for making communities healthier by providing emergency medical services. The hospital is a 222-bed specialty care hospital receiving patients from across the UP and provides care in 65 specialties and subspecialties. Its medical staff of more than 200 doctors work as a team with its more than 1,800 employees. The City of Marquette is the UP’s largest community and serves as the regional center for education, healthcare, recreation and retail, offering arts and culture opportunities and stellar schools. It is also home to Northern Michigan University and has received national recognition for its livability and quality of life.

Requirements

  • Successfully complete MDHHS approved Paramedic course and have a Paramedic License in the state or Michigan.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Valid Michigan driver's license
  • Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

Nice To Haves

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Trauma Course (ITLS or PHTLS)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP)
  • Coaching the Emergency Vehicle Operator (CEVO), VFIS Driver Training, or equivalent
  • 6 months field experience in EMS

Responsibilities

  • Responds to calls for emergency medical services and provides patient care as directed and/or determined necessary.
  • Safely navigates ambulance to patient's location. Provides stabilization of scene and requests additional assistance as necessary.
  • Determines nature and extent of illness or injury and patient's history from available sources.
  • Administers emergency medical care within scope of practice, including patient stabilization, monitoring, and resuscitation, from the scene to receiving medical facility.
  • Contacts medical personnel, reports/records observations, and follows directives from supervising Physician or Registered Nurse.
  • Maintains equipment, restocks supplies and cleans ambulance as necessary.
