About The Position

A Paramedic (EMT-P) is a person qualified as required by Florida State Statute 401 and has a current Florida Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic Certification to provide Advanced Life Support medical care and serves on a Basic Life Support or Advanced Life Support Ambulance. An Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic may drive an ALS or BLS unit or serve as the senior Medical Technician on an ALS or BLS unit, depending on the needs of the patient.

Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Hold a current Florida Class E License.
  • Have and maintain a good driving record.
  • Be in generally good physical health.
  • Be free of any mental illness.
  • Be free from addiction to alcohol or drugs.
  • Have a high school diploma, equivalent certification, or a GED.
  • Possess a current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support Provider certification.
  • Possess a current Certification as a Florida Paramedic.
  • Have Documentation of completion of state required 16-hour EVOC course or the equivalent.
  • Has not been convicted of a DUI/DWI in the last 7 years.
  • Has completed (from the DHS FEMA Training Website): ICS – 100a, Introduction to Incident Command System.
  • Has completed (from the DHS FEMA Training Website): IS-5a, Introduction to Hazardous Materials.
  • Has completed (from the DHS FEMA Training Website): IS 700, Introduction to National Incident Management System.
  • Has completed (from the DHS FEMA Training Website): IS-800, Introduction to the National Response Plan.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Advanced Life Support medical care.
  • Serve on a Basic Life Support or Advanced Life Support Ambulance.
  • Drive an ALS or BLS unit or serve as the senior Medical Technician on an ALS or BLS unit, depending on the needs of the patient.
