About The Position

We are currently hiring a full-time ground ambulance paramedic to work in a dynamic and forward thinking Rural Hospital based EMS system. This is a 48 on 96 off shift. As a paramedic at Care flight ground, you not only work on an ambulance and a quick response vehicle (QRV), but you also work in the emergency room at Plumas District Hospital, whom we are partnered with to run their EMS program. Our clinicians are able to work within their scope of practice within the hospital and are an integral part of a robust integrated health team we have built within the communities we serve. Our team members are trained perform low angle rope rescue and carry low angle gear on our ambulances. We are also one of the few programs in the state of California to utilize point of care ultrasound in the field (POCUS), as well as offer free critical care training to our paramedics. We provide medical coverage and services to large wildland fire incidents throughout the summer as well as special events, coverage for athletic, musical venues, and festivals. Care Flight is very involved in the communities we serve and provide education to corresponding agencies and citizens alike. We adhere to high clinical standards in our clinicians, utilize critical thinking and practice medicine in multitudes of clinical settings and scenarios within the rural areas we cover. We also work closely with our Care Flight organization and routinely transport with our flight and critical care teams when weather prevents them from flying. Career opportunities also exist within the Care flight organization for movement into our CCT, fixed wing, and rotor wing platforms located in Nevada and California.

Requirements

Paramedic certification in the State of California required.
Nor Cal Certification required.
American Heart Association ACLS required.
American Heart Association PALS certification required.
American Heart Association BLS/CPR required.
Current ITLS or equivalent required.
CA Ambulance Driver’s License with Medical Examiner’s Certification.
Valid California or Nevada Driver’s license required with a clean driving record.
Must possess excellent communication (written and verbal) skills.
Maintains a positive working attitude.
Self-starter requiring little oversight.
Must be adaptable to change and able to function in a team based management structure.
Must be able to work overtime as required.

Nice To Haves

Low angle rope rescue certification preferred.
Experience operating an emergency vehicle a plus.
Experience in a ALS system a plus.
Pre-hospital experience a plus.
Experience in EMS and public education; field or classroom a plus.

Responsibilities

Provides advanced life support to patients who are ill and/or injured.
Transports and transfers patients and assess the extent of an illness or injury to establish and prioritize medical procedure to follow in accordance with established protocols.
Ultimately responsible for all aspects of patient care from the time of patient contact until transfer to a higher level of care.
Provide consistent, high quality prehospital care as outlined by the REMSA/Care Flight Standard of Care, Nor Cal Protocols, and accepted local and national treatment doctrines.
Drives and operates ambulances and other company vehicles safely, in accordance with established emergency driving guidelines.
Provide an exemplary, safe, professional demeanor at all times.
Acts as a catalyst for absolute integrity, confidentiality, and competency with patients, their families, the public, other agencies, coworkers, and REMSA management.
Maintain currency of all required certifications and licenses.
Provide feedback to management for improvement of working conditions, patient care, and system performance.
Responsible for timely, legible, highly accurate recordkeeping.
Assumes the role as educator for the public, students, and coworkers.
Cooperates with other members of the REMSA team, including management and co-workers.
Provide support to Plumas District Hospital by working in the Emergency Room.
Must be able to work overtime as required.
