About The Position

An employee in this classification performs the duties of an Emergency Medical Technician at the Paramedic level; operating an approved mobile medical unit, rescuing victims and administering appropriate emergency medical care to patients while enroute to a hospital. Employee is responsible for responding to the scene of emergency and non-emergency calls, applying necessary medical treatment to sick or injured persons and transporting persons to a medical facility. Employee is exposed to the normal hazards of emergency rescue work, including risk of exposure to infectious diseases and blood-borne pathogens. Work is performed under general supervision and is reviewed through observation, reports, and discussion concerning the quality and effectiveness of duties and responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Certification by the North Carolina Medical Examiners Board as an Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic
  • Possess a valid North Carolina driver’s license
  • Certification by the North Carolina Medical Examiners Boards as a Paramedic
  • Current certifications in CPR
  • NIMS certifications 100, 200, 700, and 800
  • Possess ACLS, PALS and CPR Certification
  • International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) or Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) certification
  • High school diploma or GED
  • In compliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, Bladen County will employ only those individuals who are US citizens, or legal aliens authorized to maintain employment in the United States.
