About The Position

Paramedic provides direct patient care and transportation when responding to both emergent and non-emergent calls for service. Paramedic operates within all federal, state, and local regulations, and within policies, procedures and guidelines of the organization and applicable Emergency Medical Services (EMS) protocols.

Requirements

  • Current paramedic-level certification (required)
  • RSFH requires National Registry
  • Valid State Driver’s License (Required)
  • BLS Basic Life Support – American Heart Association (Required)
  • ACLS – AHA (Advanced Cardiac Life Support - American Heart Association) (Required)
  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)
  • Successful completion of a Paramedic program at the certificate or associates degree level (Required)

  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) or Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) (Preferred upon hire, Required within 6 months of hire) (Not required for RSFH)
  • 1 Year of Paramedic Experience (Preferred)
  • Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) – (Preferred upon hire, Required within 1 year of hire)
  • ICS 100 & ICS 700 (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Responds to calls, performs ALS patient assessment and triage
  • Performs indicated Advanced Life Support procedures as per the appropriate EMS Protocols under the direction of the Medical Control Physician, through standing orders or radio/phone communications.
  • Ensures that vehicles and equipment are ready for use at the beginning and end of shift.
  • Operates all vehicles in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Provides high level of customer service to all patients, patient’s families, community providers, visitors, and employees.
  • Provides accurate, precise, timely documentation as applicable to patient care.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work independently, problem solve, and be able to resolve conflict while working under considerable stress.
  • Accommodates and trains new staff and/or students for orientation and/or educational purposes.
  • Completes all documentation on behalf of students/orientees.
  • Maintains knowledge of policies, procedures, and EMS Protocols.
